Henry Mentz, LPC-Associate

Are you feeling stuck between who you are and who you want to become?
Henry works with adolescents and adults in Houston, Texas, who are navigating anxiety, depression, self-doubt, life transitions, relationship difficulties, identity questions, low self-esteem, and academic or professional stress. Whether you are trying to understand what you want from life, manage overwhelming emotions, or move forward with greater confidence, counseling can offer a supportive space to slow down, gain clarity, and create meaningful change.
Henry believes that clients already possess valuable insight into the life they want to build and the person they want to become. His role is to help clients better understand themselves, make intentional choices, and develop practical tools for growth. His counseling approach is conversational, collaborative, curious, and practical. He draws from person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and attachment-based approaches, tailoring treatment to each client’s needs rather than expecting them to fit into a specific method.
Henry works with clients at all stages of life and especially enjoys supporting young adults as they explore their identity, clarify their goals, and determine what kind of life they want to create. He also has experience working with substance use and related concerns.
At the heart of Henry’s approach is the belief that connection, encouragement, and the right therapeutic tools can help people grow. His commitment to counseling was shaped by the meaningful relationships and experiences that have influenced his own life. He brings that same appreciation for support and connection into his work with clients at Catalyst Counseling in Houston.
Outside of counseling, Henry enjoys playing guitar, spending time outdoors, and is proud to call Houston home.
